Default Do you like Science Fiction?

No, this thread has nothing to do with Shadow Form, but with Science Fiction Does anyone likes to read it? If so, which are your favorite ones? Mines are Fiasco by Stanislav Lem, Solaris, also by him, Hyperion/Endymion saga by Dan Simmons, Dune by Frank Herbert and - to be honest - a host of others. Fiasco is the book that made me feel sorry for the aliens for the first time (Sector 9 did also, but it is a movie) and made me ask myself what kind of race we are actually. Are we looking for other races because we are friendly, or do we just need a mirror..

Discard philosophic crap at the end..
Do you like SciFi?

I like Dan Simmons, but I am more of a horror genre fan, of which Dan Simmons also writes.
The SF I do like are by Clarke, Herbert & Verne.

Yes, Dan is a great horror writer too. Whatever critics might say about his last book Terror, i found it to be a good horror book. Not to mention his classics such as Summer/Winter of night, Carrion Comfort, etc. He writes several different styles, but i think that SciFi is where he shines the most.

My husband and I have a whole library of science fiction. He is more into the hard stuff like greg bear and benford....I tend more towards the science fantasy end with roger zelanzy and andre norton. (and yes I read almost all of the dragonlance books when they came out). We also read the star trek novels for a quick brain candy ....since they are not very ...uhm...well you know if you have read them.

Yes, I do. My favorites are Dune and Ender's Game. I read a lot of it. I'm currently reading the Saga of Seven Suns by Kevin J. Anderson, and I was reading the Dune novels co-authored by him and Brian Herbert.

Isaac Asimov is good. I found Ian Banks books don't flow as easily as I like.
